Dental implants are fixed replacements for missing teeth. An implant is a small titanium rod that is inserted into the bone to support a crown like structure. They are considered to be the closest feeling to a natural teeth and can be used to support a crown or a bridge or even a full arch of teeth.

Our Implant Surgeon is able to place dental implants which means you don’t have to leave the practice for this more specialist treatment. He will assess your bone and existing dentition to check for support. Dental implants are placed under the gum and left for a period of time to mesh into the bone before being uncovered and the suprastructure of a crown or bridge fitted.

Dental implants require follow on care, hygiene and maintenance and our dental hygienist will advise as to a suitable preventive plan. They can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple tooth or a full arch. It is also quite common to place two implants in the lower arch onto which a full denture can be “clicked” into place. The denture can then still be removed for cleansing but when in place is firm and will not move during talking and eating, a great solution if you struggle to hold a denture in place.
